Date:9/1/2010

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Radiation Oncology Services of America, Inc. (ROSA), a subsidiary of Ambulatory Services of America, Inc. (ASA), announced today that it has entered into an agreement with the Department of Radiation Oncology at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine to embark on a Cooperative Quality Assurance Project.  In this project, the Washington University Department of Radiation Oncology will review quality assurance activities in a number of ROSA's facilities and will work with ROSA to identify and build upon best clinical practices.

Greg Merrill, President and Chief Operating Officer of ROSA, said, "I am confident that all ROSA employees keep patient safety at the forefront of everything they do in our centers.  But we must also continually challenge ourselves to ensure that we are providing the best and safest patient care.  We welcome the chance to learn about ways to improve the quality of care in our delivery of radiation therapy for our patients."

As a nationally and internationally recognized expert in numerous radiation therapy procedures and practices, the Department of Radiation Oncology of Washington University in St. Louis operates an outreach program, known as Radiation Oncology Consulting Services (ROCS), which gathers knowledge from radiation oncology entities in academic settings as well as hospital-based and freestanding cancer centers and then distributes that shared knowledge base widely within the radiation oncology industry.  To kick off the Cooperative Quality Assurance Project, the Washington University in St. Louis' physics team will visit several ROSA centers in the upcoming months and will engage the staff in discussions around imaging and treatment planning, technology utilization, quality assurance and patient safety issues.
