Date:9/28/2010

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The 96th Annual Clinical Congress of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), one of the largest meetings of surgeons in the world, will convene October 3-7 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC.  This year marks the first time that the ACS Clinical Congress has ever been held in our nation's capitol.

The Clinical Congress provides a prime opportunity for writers, editors, and producers who cover the health care and/or health policy beat to provide the latest information for their readers or viewers on topics such as:

  • Translation of Military Trauma Concepts into Civilian Practice
  • Using NSQIP to Improve Surgical Outcomes: An Update of New Advances
  • Universal Access to Healthcare: Let's Check the Vital Signs
  • Duty Hour Restrictions for Surgical Residents: Impact on  Patients, Residents, and Faculty
  • Robotic Surgery: Established and Emerging Applications across Disciplines
  • Evolving Technologies and Procedures in Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery
  • Health Care Reform: Are We Neglecting the Future of Surgery?

In addition to hundreds of general and specialty sessions, a series of lectures by prominent guest speakers and more than 200 research-in-progress reports will be presented during the Surgical Forum sessions.  Technical exhibits from over 250 companies will be on display in the Washington Convention Center, along with scientific exhibits from surgical researchers around the world.

Press activities are scheduled for Monday, October 4, and Tuesday, October 5, in the Clinical Congress Press Conference Room.  These sessions provide a unique opportunity for reporters to interview key speakers away from the presentation podium and to ask their own questions to customize their coverage for their readers, listeners, or viewers.
