AAIPharma Services Appoints Maffuid as EVP Operations

WILMINGTON, N.C., April 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- AAIPharma Services Corp., a leading provider of pharmaceutical product development and manufacturing services, announced today that it has appointed Paul Maffuid as executive vice president of operations. Dr. Maffuid will have responsibility for the company's Drug Product Development Services functions.

Dr. Maffuid comes to AAIPharma Services with a 27-year career in pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical product development, where he has been an entrepreneur and served in leadership roles. His oversight has included chemical and formulation development, manufacturing, analytical control functions and drug metabolism teams that successfully influenced the discovery and transition of novel therapeutics through clinical development and commercial launch.  His diverse background includes establishing pharmaceutical product operations, and he has significant expertise in organizations that provide high-quality pharmaceutical development services.

Most recently, Dr. Maffuid served as President of Biopharmalogics, Inc., a provider of drug product consulting services to the life science industry. His career spans expanding leadership roles at Arena Pharmaceuticals, Amylin Pharmaceuticals, Magellan Laboratories, Cabrillo Laboratories and Glaxo Research Institute.
