Dr. Valentin Goede wird auf dem 18. Kongress der European Hematology Association in Stockholm vielversprechende Ergebnisse für ältere CLL-Patienten vorstellen.

CLL ist die häufigste Leukämieform in der westlichen Welt. Viele CLL-Patienten sind Senioren mit Komorbiditäten, so dass die aggressiven Standardbehandlungen für sie nicht in Frage kommen. Bislang war ungeklärt, ob (i) eine Kombinationsbehandlung mit dem Chemotherapeutikum Chlorambucil plus einem monoklonalen CD20-Antikörper die Aussichten für diese Patienten gegenüber einer Behandlung mit Chlorambucil allein verbessert und ob (ii) diese Patienten mehr vom Einsatz des neuartigen CD20-Antikörpers Obinutuzumab (GA101) im Vergleich zum zugelassenen CD20-Antikörper Rituximab profitieren.

Die von der Deutschen CLL-Studiengruppe (DCLLSG) in Zusammenarbeit mit Hoffmann-La Roche durchgeführte CLL11-Studie vergleicht erstmals direkt die folgenden Behandlungen für ältere Patienten mit Komorbiditäten: GA101 plus Chlorambucil, Rituximab plus Chlorambucil und Chlorambucil allein.

Das Zusetzen von GA101 oder Rituximab zu Chlorambucil verlängerte die Zeit, in der die Menschen ohne Verschlechterung ihres Zustands lebten (progressionsfreies Überleben), gegenüber Chlorambucil allein wesentlich. Beide Kombinationsbehandlungen zeigten ein akzeptables Sicherheitsprofil für die untersuchte Patientengruppe. Diese Ergebnisse sind ein bedeutender Schritt hin zur Verbesserung der Behandlung älterer CLL-Patienten mit Komorbiditäten (obwohl die Ergebnisse des Direktvergleichs der zwei Antikörper erst zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt der Studie verfügbar sein werden).
