ZappRx announces new prior authorization partnership with PARx Solutions

BOSTON, Nov. 29, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- ZappRx (, a digital specialty prescribing platform focused on increasing patient access to specialty therapy, announced a partnership with PARx Solutions (, a leader in helping prescribers manage prescription prior authorizations (PA). This strategic partnership combines ZappRx's expertise in automating the specialty drug prescribing process with PARx's expertise in helping prescribers overcome challenges experienced during prior authorization that lead to delays in patients receiving their medications.

"A partnership with PARx Solutions offers providers a uniform and simplified prior authorization service," said Karen Tirozzi, Vice President of Solutions at ZappRx. "Providers who use our platform will experience consistent electronic steps to get PAs approved while generating specialty prescriptions."

Founded in 2008 and based in Burlington, Massachusetts, PARx Solutions has been successful in providing their PA system throughout physician offices across the nation. To date, tens of thousands of providers rely on PARx Solutions to process prior authorizations for more than 70 prescription medications.

"Partnering with ZappRx is a natural fit for PARx Solutions. We believe their technology platform is very effective for specialty medication management and feel strongly that our PA service meets an important need for specialty medication prescribers," said Dan Rubin, President and CEO of PARx Solutions. "Prescribers and pharmacists who manage specialty drugs experience time-consuming and frustrating challenges that hinder patient care. It's our goal to eliminate these barriers by providing a simplified process."

PARx's "white glove" PA service will be available via ZappRx's platform. As a result, providers can populate information for the PA at the same time they prescribe a specialty drug, allowing for a faster process to get the prescription sent. ZappRx in partnership with PARx provides a single, digital platform to track the status of prescribed specialty drugs. PARx's proprietary PA format has proven to be effective at generating high approval rates and more timely PA resolutions.
