With Launch of Consumer Product ActiveCare Announces New Head of Sales and Marketing
Date:12/16/2010

SALT LAKE CITY, Dec. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ActiveCare, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: ACAR), a technology service company that develops and provides 24/7 living assistance and emergency response solutions to seniors, announced today that it has appointed David Gumner to head up the rollout of ActiveCare's products to consumers. ActiveCare has commenced introducing its ActiveOne product and service through multiple retail channels.  To guide and direct this market introduction, the Company sought out David Gumner who has a consumer goods, sales and marketing background with over 25 years' experience building powerful consumer brands. Mr. Gumner will spearhead advertising and marketing programs, sales and distribution initiatives, and all consumer-facing communications to build awareness and adoption of ActiveCare products and services, and loyalty to the ActiveCare brand.

"In ActiveCare, I see a tremendous growth opportunity through getting the message to consumers – both users and their family, friends and health care professionals who serve as their caregivers," said Gumner. "We know through consumer research that ActiveCare offers a meaningful, caring solution to a market need that is currently unmet by any other alternative in the market. ActiveCare bridges the gap between the very limited, primitive Personal Emergency Response systems at the low end of the market, and the very costly, sometimes intrusive in-home care or assisted living services at the other end of the spectrum, for a very affordable monthly fee. We now need to get the word out about this much needed caregiver option."

Mr. Gumner has helped launch, build and nurture several iconic consumer brands during his career, which includes a focus on health and wellness related products and services over the past decade. Most recently, David was Vice President, Mass Market Marketing and Business Development at Nature's Way Products. At Nature's Way he extended the specialty retail & health food focused Nature's Way brand into the mass market, building a multi-million dollar business in food, drug, mass market and warehouse club stores.  He also worked closely with Nature's Way's mass market retail partners, including Wal-Mart, Walgreen's, CVS, Rite Aid, Target and other retailers in the food, drug, mass and warehouse club channels.

"We are extremely excited to announce the addition of David to our team," said Jim Dalton, Chairman and CEO of ActiveCare. "Over the past year we have invested millions in developing products that allow our members to age in place while living an active lifestyle," continued Dalton.

Bringing its products & services to market, ActiveCare will reach consumers through direct marketing, online marketing programs and partnerships, caregiver and healthcare professional partnerships, and at retail. Mr. Gumner will leverage his experience in multiple distribution channels and with a multitude of communications media to reach target consumers with a meaningful message and informative, credible communications. David has already begun to build a distributor network, retail partnerships, and effective communications materials and marketing programs to build awareness of ActiveCare.

Mr. Gumner is a "classically-trained" consumer packaged goods (CPG) marketer, beginning his career at Procter & Gamble followed by Kraft Foods.  David earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Tufts University and his MBA from Cornell University.
