Wireless Health 2013 Convenes Leaders in Health and Sciences to Foster Advanced Developments in Wireless Health

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 24, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Wireless Health 2013, presented by the Wireless-Life Sciences Alliance (WLSA), invites the most advanced research from health, biomedical, engineering and computer science disciplines to encourage the development of widely usable mobile health solutions. World-renowned Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School will host the fourth annual Wireless Health conference in Baltimore, November 1-3.


Wireless Health 2013 strives to provide a forum where thought leaders and practitioners from the highest-quality academic, health and industrial research organizations convene an international community to accelerate development and adoption of new technologies for improving health and lowering costs.

Encouraging transdisciplinary collaboration, Wireless Health 2013 brings together members of the medical and health research community, device manufacturers, clinical and health services providers, government leaders and policy makers. Peer-reviewed papers and abstracts, interactive workshops, emerging application demonstrations, and distinguished speakers will be featured.

Dr. Michael Roizen, Chief Wellness Officer and Wellness Institute Chair at the Cleveland Clinic, will deliver the opening keynote on November 2. Roizen will discuss cost-effective strategies for the clinical world in a session entitled, "Learnings on Bending the Cost Curve Down in the Real Clinical World, and What You Can Do For You!"

The keynote speaker on November 3 is Dr. Peter Tippett, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President of the Verizon Innovation Incubator. Dr. Tippett will discuss the need to transform medicine in his address "Science, Technology and Services to Accelerate the Transformation of Medicine."  Dr. Tippett is responsible for helping to drive Verizon's healthcare vision, which is to create a healthier world in which individuals and healthcare organizations are empowered with innovative technologies that improve health outcomes, lower the cost of healthcare and transform access to care.

Four pre-conference workshops will be offered on November 1 including a half-day with Bakul Patel, Senior Policy Advisor to the Director of the Center for Devices and Radiological Health at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration who will discuss the recent release of the Mobile Medical Application Guidance.

On-site registration opens at 7 a.m. on Friday, November 1. Sessions  commence at 8:30 a.m. each day.
