Wacom's DTH-2242: An Ideal Interactive Pen and Touch Display Solution for Healthcare and Presentation Markets

VANCOUVER, Wash., Feb. 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Wacom announces the new DTH-2242, a 21.5" interactive pen and touch display that improves workflow efficiency and enhances communication in two market segments: healthcare and presentation.

Communication Cure
For doctors, dentists and nursing staff who handwrite electronic medical records and prefer to draw and annotate on radiographic images to explain a surgical procedure or highlight a specific point of interest, the DTH-2242's direct pen-on-screen input allows them to interact and communicate more effectively with their patients as well as other medical personnel. During discussions with patients or medical colleagues, healthcare professionals can quickly add notes or draw pictures to make their explanations more impactful and easier to understand. Multi-touch gesture support provides simple and fast scrolling through record charts and the ability to zoom-in on images helps support the overall communication process.

Powerful Presentations Made Easy
The DTH-2242 gives presenters, from a university professor lecturing to a large group of students to a trainer presenting in front of corporate clients, a valuable set of tools that allow them to engage their audience through the use of handwritten notes, annotations and drawings. For example, a math professor could write-out and solve equations in front of his/her students in order to provide important visuals, a key component to the learning process. Presenters using Microsoft® PowerPoint® will also appreciate the pen and touch capabilities of the DTH-2242.  Specific points that need to be emphasized within a presentation can be circled in digital ink or notes can be added with the Wacom pen for effect. Standard and custom touch gestures can be used to make navigation within presentations fast and natural. And since the presenter is facing the audience when working from the DTH-2242, unlike a traditional blackboard setting, a greater connection is created with the audience which promotes a better environment for learning.

Technical Highlights of the DTH-2242
The combination of Wacom's excellent pen and multi-touch offers unsurpassed advantages in workflow and visual communication performance. With the pen, adding notes and drawings is easy and intuitive. The large 21.5" IPS LCD panel with HD (1920x1080) resolution provides plenty of space for presenters and healthcare professionals to perform their work. The multi-touch of the DTH-2242 supports intuitive navigation and both standard and custom gestures for enhanced workflow. Five user-customizable ExpressKeys, located on the display's bezel, provide easy access to commonly used shortcuts and functions. Additionally, presenters will find USB ports on either side of the DTH-2242 come in handy when, for example, a new presentation needs to be uploaded.  DVI-I video input and pass through ensure that the interactive pen and touch display can be used with virtually any projection system.

The HDCP compliant DTH-2242 offers excellent reliability, making it an ideal choice for demanding classroom and medical environments. The cordless and battery-free  Wacom pen supports 1024 levels of pressure and is extremely durable. To prevent loss, the pen can be tethered to the unit and stored in the dedicated pen compartment. A security slot has been designed into the product to prevent theft. The LCD panel of the DTH-2242 features anti-glare properties and is highly scratch resistant. The integrated stand can be adjusted to support inclination angles from 15 to 72 degrees. Alternatively, the VESA 100 mount allows 3rd party arms or stands to be used.
