Date:2/21/2012

NEEDHAM, Mass., Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- A confluence of positive milestones was recently celebrated by employees of VITA NEEDLE CO. during a recent luncheon.  The 80th anniversary coincided with machine operator Rosa Finnegan's 100th birthday.  In addition, the venerable manufacturer recorded its 18th Record Sales year in the last twenty and recognized the substantial contributions of five year, fifth generation Director Frederick M. Hartman, II.  Also, the firm earned dual ISO certifications 9001:2008 and 13485:2003 with perfect audit scores, which confirmed the highest standards of Vita's quality Management System and customer satisfaction achievements.

The Company continues to thrive with its decades long philosophy of employing senior citizens.  The median age in the factory is 74 years with an average dozen years of service.  Still located on the second floor of a 1924 theater, Vita Needle has parlayed the loyalty and dependability of its work force with simple systems that allow it to produce quality products with legendary speed.  The flexibility of the 35 part time seniors combined with ample inventory, no debt (EVER) and a well-earned reputation for old-fashioned craftsmanship has allowed the multi-million dollar firm to exceed 1600 active clients.

Vita Needle Company specializes in short runs of needles, tubing and fabricated machined parts.  The firm has never had a layoff in its 80 years due in part to the diversification of industries (50 others besides medical devices) served and willingness to operate in both the prototype and higher volume marketplaces.  Examples of products include brain shunts, renovation components, implant material, hair-diameter needles and tubes still in operation on Mars.
