SEWICKLEY, Pa., June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The benefits of resveratrol are well studied and documented in controlled scientific studies. It has been shown to slow down the aging process and help prevent age-related diseases including heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's, diabetes, and others. But to what extent are benefits being measurably realized by real people incorporating it into their daily lives? After receiving numerous customers' comments claiming enhanced athletic performance, higher energy levels and increased endurance and strength, Vinomis Laboratories has decided to put resveratrol to the test.
The company is recruiting 100 amateur athletes, comprised of runners, swimmers and cyclists, to participate in a 30-day trial to determine if the combination of resveratrol and quercetin produces measureable results of enhanced athletic performance. Vinomis is using the resveratrol formulation as found in Vindure 900 dietary supplement. Athletes interested in participating may get more information at www.vindurance.com.
The Vindure 900 formulation is based on discoveries and technology developed at Harvard Medical School and other renowned research institutions, which established the connection between red wine compounds and improved health and longevity in laboratory animals.
These red wine compounds have been shown in numerous laboratory tests to activate the "SIRT" genes which play a key role in slowing down the aging process and protecting the body from many of the adverse effects of aging.
The qualified participants will be required to be between the ages of 30 and 70 years, have a minimum of five years experience in their sport, must already be documenting their performance, and be in good health. Cyclists must also use a bike computer to ensure accurate tabulation. Cyclists will track mileage, duration of workout, average speed, terrain conditions and weather. Runners will track mileage, duration of workout and weather. Swimmers will track number of laps or relative distance, duration of workout, and type of body of water, whether a pool, lake, river or ocean, and include relevant current, tide and wind conditions. All participants will track their resting heart rate, peak heart rate and recovery time.
"With the formulation we developed, I am not surprised that many Vindure 900 customers are realizing increased endurance and strength, and I am very interested to see the actual measured improvements achieved over a 30-day period," Dr. Bryan C. Donohue, Co-founder, Chief Medical Advisor, and Director said.
Quercetin's benefits are not as well publicized, but it has been found to be the second most potent sirtuin-gene activating polyphenol, second only to resveratrol in the polyphenol family. Quercetin is considered a flavonol, and is one of the most active antioxidants found in medicinal plants. In addition to stressed grapes and wine, foods rich in quercetin are apples, both black and green tea, onions (particularly the outermost rings), citrus fruits, cherries, and various types of berries.
Many medicinal plants are thought to owe their biological activity to high quercetin content. Quercetin has known anti-inflammatory effects and is believed to prevent cancer, prostatitis, heart disease, cataracts, allergies, bronchitis, and asthma. It also enhances the absorption and prolongs the effects of resveratrol.
Getting a Second Wind
Vindure 900 customers like Clare Westwood and Harvey Kart credit Vindure 900 with providing life-changing effects.
Clare is a 49-year old mother of "three big babies," she describes. She had been physically active and fit her entire life, but after giving birth she had lost her muscle tone and figure, and suffered from chronic low back pain. She embarked on a path to become a certified Pilates instructor, and now teaches two to three Pilates classes daily, working out with each class. She followed a healthy diet and focused on including polyphenol rich foods such as blueberries, but didn't notice any measurable benefits. She began using Vindure 900, and within days realized she would not get sore after teaching all her classes. "Even during training for a half marathon, I would take Vindure 900 in the morning, run, and still feel energized after," she said. Now she recommends it to her clients, some of whom are professional football players.
Harvey is the 63-year old publisher of Western Pennsylvania Hospital News & More. He has been a life-long, long-distance runner, having completed four marathons, a master swimmer and an avid tennis player. He began to develop limiting physical conditions and had to decrease the intensity of his workouts. One of his doctors recommended Vindure 900. "I realized immediate results, and now I do an hour of intense water aerobics five times a week. I go to bed at 11 p.m. and wake up ready to go at 5 a.m., Harvey said.
