Villas Senior Living Apartments Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The Villas at Heritage Woods of Centralia is celebrating 10 years of service to area seniors with an anniversary party from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Jan. 16.

“Since the beginning, The Villas has established itself as a wonderful neighborhood for Centralia seniors,” said Rod Burkett, CEO of Gardant Management Solutions, the company that manages the community.

During the anniversary celebration, Administrator Tom Broughton will talk about the impact The Villas has had on the area, and the community will recognize residents who have lived in the neighborhood since it opened a decade ago.

Ten-year residents are Barbara Alli, Sandra Cribbs, Dale and Judy Higgins, Rosemary Myers, Vera Pease, Sandra Robinson, Betty Reuter, Mary Unsell and Howard Walker.

The Villas at Heritage Woods of Centralia is a neighborhood of duplex homes designed for lower income older adults who are at least 55 years of age.

Each of the one-bedroom and two-bedroom floor plans offers single-level living, so there are no stairs. The homes include 36” doorways and levered door handles instead of door knobs. The full kitchen includes an electric range with easy-to-read front-mounted controls.

Maintenance, landscaping and snow removal services are included. A community center and gardening areas are available for residents to enjoy.

In addition, residents of the Villas have priority access to the affordable assisted lifestyle community located on the campus, should the need arise.

Villas residents are welcome to participate in the social, recreational, and educational activities available for residents of the senior living and assisted lifestyle apartments. For an additional charge, they can take advantage of meal and beauty/barber services.

Gardant, the company that manages the Villas senior apartments, is the 10th largest provider in the nation.

Other Gardant-managed communities in Southern Illinois include the Heritage Woods communities in Benton, McLeansboro and Mt. Vernon, the Cambridge House communities in Maryville, O'Fallon and Swansea, and Prairie Living at Chautauqua in Carbondale.
