Varian Medical Systems to Proceed with Year End Review and Webcast for Investors at ASTRO Meeting in Boston

BOSTON, Oct. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Despite weather concerns here at the meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Varian Medical Systems (NYSE: VAR) is planning to proceed with its scheduled investor meeting and webcast at 7:00 a.m. Eastern time tomorrow, October 30.  It will also conduct a planned tour of its ASTRO exhibit following the meeting if the convention hall is open.

"We realize that many who were planning to attend will not be able to make it in person due to the storm," said Spencer Sias, vice president of corporate communications and investor relations.  "However, many people are already here, and we are set up to webcast the meeting, so we will proceed and we hope those who could not travel will be able to join us remotely.  We recommend that participants who are not already here participate by webcast."

The meeting tomorrow will begin with breakfast at 7:00 a.m. and webcast presentations at 7:30 a.m. at the Westin Boston Waterfront, 425 Summer Street, Boston, in the Commonwealth A&B meeting room.  Management presentations will focus on advances in radiotherapy and radiosurgery, and new technologies and products from the company's Oncology Systems business.
