VIPAAR's VIP Earns 4-star Technology Rating at AEWE's Spiral G
Date:12/6/2011

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Dec. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The November 14, 2011, edition of Army Times reported soldier reviews of VIPAAR's Virtual Interactive Presence (VIP) as 4 stars ("would take it on a mission"). VIPAAR participated in the Army Expeditionary Warfighter Experiment (AEWE)'s Spiral G at Fort Benning, GA, culminating in three weeks of live force-on-force missions in October and November 2011.

"It was a pleasure to work with the incredible soldiers and leaders who make up the AEWE team," said VIPAAR CEO Drew Deaton. "As our first live military experiment, AEWE shows the potential of VIPAAR's Virtual Interactive Presence capability to help soldiers and those that support them. The ability to reach back from remotely deployed locations when critical needs arise and bring expertise forward can save time and money when compared to dispatching a repair team, specialized personal, and a supporting force."

VIPAAR introduced new capabilities at AEWE applicable to UAVs and briefings in live situations. VIP allows remote soldiers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and Field Service Representatives (FSRs) to instantly share their expertise wherever it might be needed. Uses include assessing and repairing critical, forward-deployed systems when resupply and repair missions may be unavailable or dangerous in addition to urgent medical needs that might require a specialist to give injured soldiers the highest level of care. VIP puts a triage capability at forward locations when physicians, SMEs, and FSRs are at other locations or higher echelons.

In addition to repair reach-back and medical support capabilities that the VIP system offers, the mission sets of AEWE included use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) and Unmanned Ground Sensors (UGS). For AEWE, enhanced VIP capabilities supported communication between company and battalion leaders on Intelligence, Sensor, and Reconnaissance (ISR) data from multiple UAV feeds as well as allowed remote briefback capabilities using live interactive video.
