Un estudio reciente conforma Stretta como tratamiento óptimo para la GERD

NORWALK, Connecticut, 15 de julio de 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Un documento revisado por homólogos recientemente publicado concluye que la terapia de Stretta es un tratamiento seguro, efectivo y duradero para la enfermedad del reflujo gastroesofágico (GERD). El documento dice que Stretta aborda una necesidad no cubierta donde los pacientes reciben un control inadecuado de la terapia PPI y descubren la cirugía como una opción no deseable. El autor del documento es George Triadafilopoulos, MD, profesor clínico de Medicina de la Stanford University School of Medicine y se publicó en la World Journal of Gastroenterology.

El doctor Triadafilopoulos dijo: "Hoy, más que nunca, los médicos se beneficiarán de la incorporación de Stretta al tratamiento armamentarium para sus pacientes GERD". La revisión exclusive examina los más de 35 estudios publicados en el procedimiento, incluyendo un reciente estudio de seguimiento de 10 años, y concluye que  Stretta es una opción de tratamiento medio altamente valioso entre PPI y la cirugía.  

Otras conclusiones alcanzadas:

  • El tratamiento de Stretta no da como resultado la destrucción de tejido, ni crea cicatriz.   
  • El control de los síntomas es consistente entre los pacientes de Stretta que primero eran dependientes de PPI o estaban poco controlados por PPI.
  • Las mejoras funcionales se producen después de Stretta, como la mejorada sensibilidad al ácido y menor elasticidad del tejido.
  • Stretta es "extremadamente seguro, duradero y reproducible".  

La GERD es el diagnóstico ambulatorio más frecuen
