Ultimate Bariatrics Performs the Obalon Swallowable Balloon for Weight Loss
Date:2/9/2017

DALLAS, Feb. 9, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Adam Smith, founder of Ultimate Bariatrics, and Dr. Richard Novak performed the FDA approved Obalon non-surgical weight loss balloon on Tuesday, February 7th. The revolutionary procedure requires no surgery and takes approximately ten minutes to perform.

The new technology is a simple one step swallow that will expand in the patient's abdomen to help them lose weight. Other weight loss surgeries incur scarring of the skin, nausea, and down time. The Obalon Balloon can be done in approximately ten minutes and the patient returns to work immediately.

Fad diets only increase but don't reduce the weight. This is a calculated 6-month program. In a large clinical study, Obalon was proven to be twice as effective as diet and exercise alone. An average of 89% of the total weight loss at 6 months was maintained at 1 year. This system is catered towards patients who have tried and failed to lose weight through diet and exercise alone.

Adam Smith, D.O., FACOS and Richard Novack, M.D., FACS at Ultimate Bariatrics are one of the first practices in Texas offering the Obalon 3-Balloon System.

Consultations are done in both the Irving and Fort Worth offices. In his ongoing quest to stand up for the rights of the obese population, Dr. Smith served as a spokesperson by the Obesity Action Coalition as a part of the Voice My C.H.O.I.C.E. campaign, he served as the President of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons in 2013, and is a member of many professional medical societies.
