UBM Medica US Launches NeurologyTimes.com
Date:7/23/2014

NORWALK, Conn., July 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Medica US today announced the launch of NeurologyTimes.com – a new online community and information resource for neurologists and other healthcare providers to help them better manage and treat their patients with neurological disorders.

The prevalence of neurologic conditions, coupled with an aging population, necessitates greater access to dedicated information for healthcare providers who treat these specific disorders.  Key statistics on neurological conditions include:

  • 1 in 6 people are affected by a neurological disease
  • The number of Americans diagnosed with Alzheimer disease – currently, the sixth leading cause of death in the United States – is expected to triple to 16 million by 2050
  • More than 400,000 people in the U.S. have multiple sclerosis
  • At least 60,000 new cases of Parkinson disease are reported each year in the U.S.

"Neurological disorders – whether migraines, MS, or seizures – are becoming more prevalent in the healthcare landscape," said Sara Michael, VP Content and Strategy at UBM Medica US. "Because of this, Neurology Times serves an increasing need for neurologists and other clinicians to have immediate access to the latest treatment information, best practices, and therapy advances."
