LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- UBM Canon today announced medical manufacturing event plans for two fast-growth BRIC markets, India and Brazil, utilizing respectively its long established MEDTEC and Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) brands. In October 19-20, 2011, the MEDTEC India Conference & Exhibition will debut in Mumbai featuring an extensive technical conference and 100 international suppliers. In June 2012, the inaugural Medical Design & Manufacturing (MD&M) Brazil will be held in Sao Paulo. This major event will feature a comprehensive conference and 300 global supplies. Valued at $2.6 billion, Brazil's manufacturers currently produce nearly 90% of the medical devices used in the country.

"There has been a very strong response to these new products from our exhibitors, many of whom are already active in these fast growth markets," commented Kevin O'Keefe, Senior Vice-President of UBM Canon. "Our recent acquisition by worldwide events giant United Business Media has accelerated our ability to readily enter new and exciting markets for our exhibitors while bringing their local medical manufacturers a valuable resource presenting the world's leading suppliers of medical grade materials and technology all in one place."
