UBC Forms European Advisory Board to Enhance Data Quality of CNS Trials

Leading CNS experts collaborate with UBC to provide best science available

BETHESDA, Md., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- To offer clients cutting-edge thinking in study methodology for CNS clinical trials, United BioSource Corporation (UBC) announces the formation of a European Advisory Board for Data Quality. This Advisory Board was established to support UBC in its ongoing efforts to improve data quality and outcomes in CNS trials that rely on subjective measurements as pivotal endpoints, such as those in psychiatry, neurology and pain. Recommendations of this Board will be integrated into UBC's customized training and validated assessment programs targeting investigators and study personnel.

Specifically, the European Advisory Board will collaborate with UBC in researching the latest methodologies in rater-training, inter-rater reliability assessments and clinician-rated scales, with a focus on enhancing scoring ability, interviewing competency and diagnostic skills for both investigators and other clinicians supporting clinical trials.

The Advisory Board will be led by Oto Markovic, MD, Regional Manager of UBC's European Regional Headquarters in Prague, Czech Republic. Joining Dr. Markovic on the Board will be six leading experts in the fields of CNS, psychiatry and neurology:

-- W. Wolfgang Fleischhacker, MD, is Vice Chair and Professor in the

Department of Psychiatry at Innsbruck University Clinics in Austria,

where he also serves as head of the Department of Biological Psychiatry.

He is a certified psychotherapist with a specialty in behavioral

therapy.
