WASHINGTON, Oct. 31 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Meat Institute Foundation Vice President of Scientific Affairs Dr. Randy Huffman will offer a response to the World Cancer Research Fund report, slated for release October 31. AMI urged reporters to ask this critical question:

How does WCRF reconcile claims of an association between red meat and colon cancer when the largest study ever done on the issue involving 725,000 people found no relationship? "Meat and fat intake and colorectal cancer risk: A pooled analysis of 14 prospective studies" was presented in abstract form at the American Association for Cancer Research conference in 2004, but never appears in its complete form in the published literature three years after it was presented. It is part of the Harvard-run "pooling project." As a result, these data were not factored into WCRF's 2007 report.
