Awarepoint, along with its federal health partners Shipcom Healthcare Solutions, ICS and Vet-Fed have jointly developed a Federal Health Technology Alliance to meet the needs of VA and Department of Defense federal health facilities. Vice Admiral Harold Koenig, MD along with Rear Admiral James Johnson, M.D. will be available to discuss Real-time Location Systems for federal health facilities at the Awarepoint booth.

Harold M. Koenig, M.D. Vice Admiral, US Navy, Retired Chief Medical Officer, AwarepointHe retired in 1998 as Surgeon General of the Navy and Chief, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery with the permanent rank of Vice Admiral after a 32-year Navy career. 

Dr. Koenig is Chairman of the Board and President of The Annapolis Center for Science Based Public Policy and is a partner in Edward Martin & Associates, Inc., a consulting firm to the healthcare industry and healthcare information management and technology companies. From 1999 through 2003 he wrote a monthly editorial column for U.S. Medicine, the voice of federal medicine. Dr. Koenig has served on several corporate boards and advisory boards including the National Environmental Health Center and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Reporting at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

During his career, Dr. Koenig served in a variety of positions including general medical officer, residency-training program director, department chairman, Executive Officer of Naval Hospital Portsmouth, and Commanding Officer, of Naval Hospital, San Diego and the Naval Health Sciences Education and Training Command, Bethesda.
