BETHESDA, Md., Aug. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) is hosting top industry suppliers and experts at the 2014 Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes and Injection Devices in Huntington Beach, California, Oct. 6-7.

This is the premier conference where industry leaders can meet with colleagues from drug and biologic manufacturing, suppliers, regulatory professionals, and academicians from around the globe, who will discuss today's challenges with drug delivery and packaging technologies, formulation development, and improving patient outcomes.

"PDA remains at the forefront of bringing together the therapy manufacturers and the best innovations in drug delivery technologies from the supplier community," says PDA President Richard Johnson. "The Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes Conference has a long track record of mentoring the exchange of information our members need to stay at the forefront of drug delivery."

Plenary sessions include expert talks from Ernst & Young, connectMeSmart, Amgen, Mylan, the U.S. FDA and the European regulators.

PDA has confirmed that FDA's Lana Shiu, MD, Director, Regulatory, Center for Device and Radiological Health will speak in the third plenary session of the meeting to discuss challenges and pitfalls for marketing applications when prefilled syringes, auto-injectors and combination products are referenced.

Nearly 100 vendors will be on hand to discuss their related products in the large exhibitor hall. The 2014 PDA Drug Delivery Combination Products Workshop follows the Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes conference.  PDA also is offering four courses following the conference, including its new Prefilled Syringe User Requirements course.
