Timberline Knolls 'Rejoices in Recovery' During National Eating Disorder Awareness Week, Feb. 20-26

CHICAGO, Feb. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The road to lifelong recovery is a challenge for those with eating disorders, which makes getting started on the healing path even more of a necessity. That's why Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center will "Rejoice in Recovery" during the week of February 20-26, nationally known as NEDAwareness Week. Timberline Knolls' mission is to educate the public on eating disorders and body image issues while reducing the stigma surrounding eating disorders and improving access to treatment.

Monday, February 21

  • TK Opening Ceremony: Signing of the Declaration of Independence from Eating Disorders

Tuesday, February 22

  • Chicago Artist Katharine Keihn as guest speaker, relating the connection between body image and art

Wednesday, February 23

  • Food scavenger hunt with TK Dietitians
  • On-site open OA Meeting

Thursday, February 24

  • Nia experience, a sensory-based spiritual and barefoot dance movement, designed to bring out a sense of health and wellness

Friday, February 25

  • Timberline Knolls' own song and dance team, consisting of therapists and eating disorder specialists

Saturday and Sunday, February 26-27

  • Film with a Purpose: "Beauty Mark: Body Image and the Race For Perfection"
