The Yolanda Adams Morning Show and Radio One Gospel Stations Raise More Than $1 Million During National Radiothon Benefiting St. Jude

First-ever Radio One/St. Jude Radiothon reached listeners in nine cities across the United States

MEMPHIS, Tenn., April 10 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Yolanda Adams Morning Show and nine Radio One gospel radio stations raised $1,015,773 during the first-ever Radio One/St. Jude Radiothon on Thursday, April 3, 2008, benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital(R). Broadcasted in nine cities across the United States, the national fundraiser helped raise awareness for St. Jude and its mission of finding cures and saving children who are battling catastrophic diseases such as cancer, sickle cell disease and pediatric HIV/AIDS.

The live broadcast of the Radio One/St. Jude Radiothon began during the Yolanda Adams Morning Show. At the conclusion of the show, the affiliate markets continued the radiothon into the early evening through the commitment of local on-air personalities. The nine participating Radio One affiliate stations are located in Houston, Tex.; Atlanta, Ga.; Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C.; Cleveland, Ohio; Richmond, Va.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Indianapolis, Ind. and Washington, D.C. Listeners in these markets were encouraged to donate to St. Jude during broadcast hours by telephone or by logging onto http://www.radiocaresforstjude.org.

Several celebrities around the country volunteered during the national radiothon by answering phones and taking pledges. Participating celebrities included gospel artists Dottie Peoples, Richard Smallwood and Norman Hutchins, NFL Washington Redskins' Chris Samuels and WNBA Washington Mystics' Bernice Mosby.
