The live broadcast of the Radio One/St. Jude Radiothon began during the Yolanda Adams Morning Show. At the conclusion of the show, the affiliate markets continued the radiothon into the early evening through the commitment of local on-air personalities. The nine participating Radio One affiliate stations are located in Houston, Tex.; Atlanta, Ga.; Raleigh and Charlotte, N.C.; Cleveland, Ohio; Richmond, Va.; Philadelphia, Pa.; Indianapolis, Ind. and Washington, D.C. Listeners in these markets were encouraged to donate to St. Jude during broadcast hours by telephone or by logging onto http://www.radiocaresforstjude.org.

Several celebrities around the country volunteered during the national radiothon by answering phones and taking pledges. Participating celebrities included gospel artists Dottie Peoples, Richard Smallwood and Norman Hutchins, NFL Washington Redskins' Chris Samuels and WNBA Washington Mystics' Bernice Mosby.

"St. Jude is deeply grateful of the commitment made by Yolanda Adams and each of the participating Radio One stations that made this epic fundraising event possible," said John P. Moses, CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising organization of St. Jude. "Their support inspired listeners to give generously so that St. Jude continues looking for cures for deadly childhood illnesses."

"The faith based community continues to be an untapped audience," Barry Mayo, President of Radio One. "The phenomenal success of the radiothon demonstrates this community's strong desire to give back to worthy causes that not only impact their community but children everywhere suffering from catastrophic illnesses."
