WAYNE, Pa., Oct. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Deacom, Inc., producer of an ERP software solution for process manufacturers, is pleased to announce that The Smith Brothers Company, manufacturer of cough and cold remedies and nutritional supplements has selected the DEACOM Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to streamline their operations and strengthen process control in support of short and long-term growth goals.

Makers of the first cough drops produced in the United States, Smith Bros. Co. is one of the most recognizable brands in the health and wellness market. Also a premier contract and private label manufacturer for some of the world's biggest brands, they have built their reputation on quality and consistency.  Pursuing an aggressive growth plan, Smith Bros. was in need of an ERP solution that could reinforce their process and quality control, provide greater enterprise-wide visibility, and enable FDA regulatory compliance and CFR Part 11 validation.

The disparate systems they had in place created a challenging and complex operating environment.  They lacked two-way communication and did not offer comprehensive functionality, causing the need for cumbersome Excel workarounds.  Smith Bros. was looking to simplify their operations without sacrificing quality control or access to valuable data that would help them growth their business.  The DEACOM single software model offered functionality to accommodate all of their requirements without customizations or bolt-ons, along with the user-friendly interface they were looking for.

"We were immediately drawn to DEACOM's business model, ease-of-use, and functionality.  DEACOM's QC and WMS capabilities were far superior to the other systems we evaluated, which is critical to our business, " said Smith Bros. Chief Financial Officer, Carol Hennessy. "This coupled with stellar references and a genuine and professional team made this decision a no-brainer."
