Glaucoma is the second-leading cause of blindness in the United States; it is incurable and loss of vision is irreversible.  Once diagnosed, medication and/or surgery may halt further loss of vision.  Although often thought of as a disease that affects the elderly, glaucoma strikes people of all ages.  The best way to protect your sight from glaucoma is to get tested, and if diagnosed, begin treatment immediately.
