Date:11/16/2010

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- TOPAZ Technologies, a leading provider of biomedical research management solutions for the Life Sciences industry, and ML Weekes & Company, a professional services firm specializing in government accounting matters, today announced a strategic partnership.  As a result of this partnership, TOPAZ Technologies will be providing a grants management solution through ML Weekes & Company's RAMS grantsERA Product.

ML Weekes' RAMS grantsERA provides direct system-to-system electronic submission of grant applications to Grants.gov, a unified site for managing interactions between grant applicants and the US Federal agencies that manage grant funds, and manages pre- and post-award information in a Web-based software solution.

TOPAZ Technologies will be integrating and reselling the grantsERA solution as part of the TOPAZ Enterprise product suite.  An ERA solution for medical research, the TOPAZ Enterprise product suite consists of biomedical research compliance and facility management solutions including Animal, Human and Biosafety Protocols products which manage the entire IACUC, IRB and IBC protocol process.  The software for managing grants will provide research facilities a means to manage grant applications and compliance requirements within the TOPAZ Enterprise product suite.

"I am looking forward to our partnership with TOPAZ," said Alex Weekes, partner, ML Weekes & Company, PC.  "Their longstanding expertise in the research software environment coupled with ML Weekes' knowledge of grants administration will yield great benefits for our existing and future clients."

"We are very excited to incorporate a grants management solution into TOPAZ Technologies' competitive product suite," said Ron Thornton, chief executive officer of TOPAZ Technologies.  "This best of breed approach will provide the most complete and feature rich solution in the industry, with the lowest cost of ownership, and provide customers a software for managing grants complete with the shared data they need to gain efficiencies and improve compliance management."
