TLC Vision Announces TLC Laser Eye Center San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- TLC Vision announced today its plans for opening a new TLC Laser Eye Center refractive surgery facility in San Diego.  Internationally recognized as leaders in field of refractive surgery, both David J. Schanzlin MD and David J. Tanzer MD will lend their surgical skill and expertise to the TLC San Diego facility.

Our new center will continue to be at the forefront of working with optometry in support of their patients.  We provide the latest in refractive technology, two premier surgeons with longstanding ties to the San Diego optometric community and an outstanding support team at the center, focused on patient care, said Jim Tiffany, TLC Vision Chief Executive Officer  

TLC San Diego will be located at the new Pacific Medical Plaza, 4910 Directors Place, San Diego. The center is centrally located, has convenient freeway access and excellent parking.  This is one of the San Diego area's newest premier medical facilities.

We have an outstanding medical team at our new center.  Together they have over 46 years of experience performing refractive surgery.

Dr. Schanzlin is regarded as a worldwide authority and leader in the refractive surgery field.  He is the Director of Keratorefractive Surgery at the prestigious UC San Diego Shiley Eye Center and has performed over 20,000 refractive procedures.  In his twenty-five years as a refractive surgeon, Dr. Schanzlin has had a hand in developing a number of new refractive technologies.  These include Intacs, which is approved by the FDA, the excimer laser used in LASIK eye surgery and the Femtosecond technology used for bladeless LASIK flap creation.

Dr. Tanzer is recognized for his surgical skill and meticulous research.  During his distinguished 21 year career in the US Navy he has held a number of positions including Director of the US Navy Refractive Surgery Program and Wing surgeo
