Studio pubblicato di recente conferma la validità di Stretta nel trattamento di GERD (malattia da reflusso gastroesofageo)

NORWALK, Connecticut, 15 luglio 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Uno studio sottoposto a valutazione inter pares pubblicato di recente conclude che la terapia Stretta è un trattamento sicuro, efficace e durevole per il GERD. Nello studio si afferma che Stretta si rivolge a un bisogno significativo non soddisfatto, ovvero ai pazienti che non ricevono un controllo adeguato dalla terapia con PPI (inibitori di pompa protonica) e per i quali la scelta dell'intervento chirurgico non rappresenta un'opzione desiderabile. Autore dello studio è George Triadafilopoulos, MD (Dottore in medicina), Professore clinico di Medicina presso la Stanford University School of Medicine ed è stato pubblicato nel World Journal of Gastroenterology.

Il dott. Triadafilopoulos ha dichiarato, "Oggi più che mai, i medici clinici riceveranno dei benefici dall'aggiunta di Stretta alle opzioni di trattamento per i loro pazienti affetti da GERD." Il riesame complete prende in esame più di 35 studi pubblicati sulla procedura, compreso uno studio recente sul follow-up a 10 anni, e conclude che Stretta è un'opzione terapeutica intermedia estremamente valida tra la terapia con PPI e l'intervento chirurgico.

  • I miglioramenti funzionali si hanno successivamente a Stretta, compresa una maggiore sensibilità agli acidi e una minore compliance dei tessuti
