South Jersey Healthcare Selects Perioperative Management By Surgical Information Systems

with patient information that is easily accessible in both the OR documentation system and enterprise electronic health record (EHR). The solution includes modules for:

  • Surgical scheduling, including preadmission testing, to help reduce day-of-surgery delays and cancellations;
  • Nursing documentation and anesthesia information management system (AIMS) designed to streamline clinical workflows;
  • Rules-based charging to accurately capture and bill charges;
  • Role-based analytics to assist in better understanding and managing surgical operations, including quality reporting; and,
  • Integrated tissue tracking to help standardize processes, accurately track tissues, reduce waste, and manage tissue inventory.

"Establishing integrated information for surgical patients was our primary goal," said Carol Dechen , Director of Surgical Services at SJH. "Perioperative Management by SIS gives us a seamless transition of information from Pre-Admission Testing through Intra-op – including Anesthesia and into PACU – until the patient is discharged or sent to the floor for continued post-operative care."

The strong analytics capabilities of the perioperative management solution also played a role in the decision, Dechen noted. "As the administrative director, the analytics dashboards will provide me with greater insight into the day-to-day operations and help me see how my ORs are really running. Because the analytics tools are very dynamic, they will help me make sound business decisions based on the latest information."
