South Florida Radiation Oncology to Develop Proton Therapy Center

WELLINGTON, Fla., Jan. 23, 2012  /PRNewswire/ -- South Florida Radiation Oncology, LLC (SFRO) (www.sfrollc.com) is pleased to announce its agreement with Mevion Medical Systems to purchase the MEVION S250 proton therapy system, (www.mevion.com). SFRO plans to develop the first proton therapy treatment center in West Palm Beach. The first proton therapy system installation is targeted to begin in 2013.

The MEVION S250 System will become the latest tool in SFRO's cancer fighting arsenal. Compared to conventional radiation treatments, protons deliver a precisely targeted dose, decreasing the amount of dose to healthy tissue and potentially lowering side effects typically associated with radiation treatments.
