Date:5/3/2013

NAPERVILLE, Ill., May 3, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Phigenics LLC, the water services company that is enabling a transformative level of performance in facility water management, is hosting the Healthcare Smart Water Leadership Summit June 6 and 7 in Chicago at the Gleacher Center, University of Chicago, Booth School of Business. Leading experts from major healthcare systems, government agencies, and standards organizations will discuss how well run, multi-functional, water management teams can achieve and confirm water safety while driving down costs for healthcare facilities.

"We had been concerned with water quality at our hospitals and clinics for a number of years and about three years ago we decided to assemble a water management team and prepare a water management plan as recommended in the proposed ASHRAE 188P standard [Prevention of Legionellosis Associated with Building Water Systems]," said Dale Krageschmidt, Ph.D., CIH  Mayo Clinic. "This has been one of the smartest infection prevention and control strategies that we have ever implemented.  Taking a proactive approach to evaluate critical control points and make corrective actions as necessary will undoubtedly protect our patients and employees in the future.  We are looking forward to sharing our story and hearing others' at the Healthcare Smart Water Leadership Summit."

This is an executive-level invitation only event. Invited speakers and guests include leaders in facility management, infection prevention, environmental health and safety, microbiology, epidemiology, and related fields within healthcare and adjacent industries.  For those who are unable to attend in person, live streaming video covering all presentations and panel discussions will be made available under login protection and will be accessible from any Internet connected device, such as computers, laptops and mobile devices. All registered participants, whether onsite or remote, will be provided login protected access to archived video of all presentations and discussions.
