Sleeve Gastrectomy Procedure With Dr. Michael Feiz Serves as a Highly Effective Alternative to Lap Band Surgery

LOS ANGELES, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- As of late, the most prominently advertised and promoted form of bariatric surgery has been the Lap-Band procedure, a minimally invasive operation in which an adjustable band is fitted over the top of a patient's stomach in order to restrict food capacity and promote weight loss. However, some patients prefer to achieve comparable results of Lap Band surgery without the use of the band implant. Luckily, an extremely effective alternative lies in the sleeve gastrectomy procedure, a bariatric surgery method that Los Angeles surgeon Dr. Michael Feiz has successfully performed on numerous patients suffering from obesity characterized by a BMI of 35 or higher.

In the sleeve gastrectomy procedure, a big portion of the stomach pouch is completely removed and the remaining portion, approximately the size of a banana, is stapled closed. This allows for a two-prong attack on the patient's obesity, in which the patient feels full quicker because of the smaller stomach size, and the post-meal feeling of satiety lasts longer because the hormone that provokes hunger is removed when the stomach is made smaller.
