Signature Homes Partners With St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Through Volunteer Opportunities, Fundraising and a St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway
Date:11/26/2013

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Nov. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Signature Homes, one of America's largest home building companies, has begun a partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  St. Jude has been pioneering research and treatment for catastrophic childhood diseases since being founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas in 1962.  The partnership between the home builder and the hospital will equip doctors and researchers with much needed funds and resources for future innovation and development.

The largest aspect of this new partnership is the construction of a new home in Signature's Nashville, TN market.  This home will be donated to the hospital for their 2014 St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway campaign.  This campaign is one of the largest single-event fundraisers for St. Jude nationwide and has raised more than $270 million dollars.  The home will be constructed in one of Signature Homes' newest new home communities, Carothers Cove at Ladd Park, located just outside of Nashville in Franklin, TN.

In addition to the donation of the St. Jude Dream Home house, Signature Homes' communities, families and residents will join together throughout the year in continued support of St. Jude.  Events will be held in each Signature Home community, and volunteer teams will be created to travel to St. Jude in Memphis throughout the year.  "Signature Homes believes in family, that's why we're in the business of building places where families can live out their dreams.  Now it's time for our Signature families to support others in their time of greatest need," said Dwight Sandlin, CEO of Signature Homes.

Due to extensive research, like that done at St. Jude, 5-year cancer survival rates have dramatically increased since the hospital's inception.  One of the largest successes has been in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (cancer of the blood), which has gone from a 4% to a 94% 5-year cancer survival rate.  "The amount of kid's that have a brighter tomorrow because of the work done at St. Jude is incredible, and we believe so much in what they do.  That is why we want to become one of their biggest supporters," said Sandlin.
