LOS ANGELES, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- ShowerBuddy, the newest addition to the Durable Medical Equipment industry, has been making waves and creating headlines internationally. ShowerBuddy products, now available throughout North America, are designed with the disabled and elderly in mind. Their basic premise holds that your shower or bath can be made accessible without having to employ costly construction. Those planning to spend thousands on bathroom modifications can now look forward to spending a quarter of the price for equipment that will serve the same purpose. Stemming from the belief that accessibility should be a basic right and not just a privilege for the affluent, ShowerBuddy strives to manufacture high-quality products at affordable prices.
ShowerBuddy systems are designed and engineered in New Zealand. They alleviate heavy lifting and unnecessary transfers for caregivers while maintaining the privacy and dignity of the patient. These unique systems allow for patients to toilet and shower in one easy trip, utilizing only one transfer. There are five different models of shower chair to accommodate different bathing preferences and bathroom layouts:
SB1 - ShowerBuddy: A shower transfer system designed for use in a shower stall. The chair comes in three pieces: one that rolls around the house like a wheelchair, a base that sits in the shower stall and a bridge that connects the two. The patient can be transferred onto a toilet using a toilet docking mechanism and then into the shower using the bridge. The chair rotates 360 degrees once in the shower stall.
SB2 - TubBuddy: A bathing transfer system designed for use with a bathtub. This chair comes in three pieces: one that rolls around the house like a wheelchair, a base that sits in the bathtub and a bridge that connects the two. With this setup a patient can be rolled over an existing standard toilet (no TDM necessary) and then over a bathtub using the bridge. The
