Sequent Medical, Inc. bringt neue SL-Produktfamilie seiner WEB Geräte zur Embolisation von Aneurysmen auf den Markt

ALISO VIEJO, Kalifornien, 20. Mai 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sequent Medical, Inc. gab heute bekannt, dass das Unternehmen die CE-Kennzeichnung für die SL-Produktfamilie („Single Layer") seiner WEB® Implantate zur Embolisation von Aneurysmen erhalten hat. Das Unternehmen hat in ausgewählten neurovaskulären Zentren in Europa bereits mit der kontrollierten Einführung dieser neuen Modelle begonnen. Neben einem kleineren Profil bietet die SL-Produktfamilie auch ein verbessertes Handling, das es Ärzten ermöglicht, ein noch breiteres Spektrum verschiedener Aneurysmen mit Produkten der WEB Plattform zu behandeln.

Die SL-Konfigurationen wurden durch die Weiterentwicklung von Sequent Medicals firmeneigener MicroBraid™-Technologie realisiert, bei der es sich um ein engmaschiges Geflecht aus einer Vielzahl äußert feiner Nitinol-Drähte handelt. Im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Geflechten für den medizinischen Bereich bietet MicroBraid neben einer Mischung aus Drähten mit unterschiedlichem Durchmesser auch eine höhere Anzahl von Drähten, was bei Geräten jeglicher Größe für ein Gleichgewicht im Hinblick auf Radialkraft, Porösität und Profil sorgt.

Die SL-Produktfamilie besteht aus zwei separaten Konfigurationen, dem WEB SL und dem WEB SLS. Beide Geräte haben eine unverkennbare Form und eignen sich daher für unterschiedliche Aneurysmamorphologien. Beide Konfigurationen sind in verschiedenen Größen von 4 bis 11 mm erhältlich und für den Einsatz mit Sequent Medicals VIA-Mikrokathetern konzipiert.

WEB SL und WEB SLS bauen auf den immer umfangreicheren Erfahrungen mit dem ursprünglichen Dual Layer WEB auf, das in Europa und Lateinamerika bereits zur Behandlung von über 280 rupturierten und nicht rupturierten Aneurysmen eingesetzt wurde und fortan als WEB DL bezeichnet wird.
