RushCard Offers Members Exclusive Discounts on Health Care Services
Date:4/13/2011

CINCINNATI, April 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- RushCard announced today that money-saving discount health plans are now available exclusively to its members.  The plans allow for savings on a variety of health services, such as dental and vision exams, diabetes management products, lab services and more.

The Discount Health Plans from RushCard expand its health care offerings, bringing unmatched value to RushCard members. The Discount Health Plans join the free Prescription Discount Card from RushCard, which entitles members to discounts on regular prescription drugs, in a suite of health care services.

"No other prepaid card is offering a way to get relief from the high cost of medical services like we are," said Russell Simmons, philanthropist and founder of the RushCard.

Bankruptcies due to medical bills increased significantly in a six-year period, from 46% of all bankruptcies in 2001 to 62% in 2007, according to the American Journal of Medicine.  It added that most of those who filed for bankruptcy were middle-class homeowners.

"The Discount Health Plans from RushCard are a wise choice for everyone, regardless of income or health insurance coverage," Simmons said.  "We'll continue to offer services based on what our members tell us they need to manage their expenses—large and small—and build greater peace of mind."

There are three exclusive Discount Health Plans for members to select or combine. Each unique plan offers discounts on a combination of health and wellness services, with flexible payment options – weekly or monthly – and prices beginning at only 99 cents a week for individuals. The Discount Health Plans offer savings on services that may not be included in traditional indemnity plans.  The card member pays for services at the discounted price at the time services are received.

The Assure Discount Plan offers savings from 5% to 40% on dental, hearing
