RT Oncology Services Signs Distribution Agreement with Metro Medical Supply, Inc.

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- RT Oncology Services Corp. (RainTree Oncology), a privately-held provider of oral oncology drug acquisition and management services, announced it has signed a distribution agreement with Metro Medical Supply, Inc., a leading privately-held wholesale distributor of prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceuticals. The agreement marks the establishment of RainTree Oncology's national distribution network and enables the Company to provide crucial oral drug services to community oncology practices nationwide.

"Metro Medical Supply, Inc.'s collective expertise in distribution and service will allow us to provide our practice members with fast, reliable and cost-effective access to oral oncology medications," said Mike Martin, president and chief executive officer of RainTree Oncology.  "This agreement is an important step toward helping community oncology practices improve their operations and efficiencies, which will ultimately benefit their patients."

"We are pleased to partner with RainTree Oncology, which has created an innovative model for providing services and oral medications to community oncologists," said Michael Cooper, president of Metro Medical Supply, Inc. "We look forward to assisting with the distribution of high quality products at competitive prices, which will benefit community oncologists and the care of their patients."

RainTree Oncology recently announced the launch of services aimed at strengthening community oncology practice by: 1) forming a community oncology network allied with RainTree Oncology through which members can obtain oral pharmaceuticals at favorably contracted prices; 2) helping to implement on-site pharmacies for those practices that do not have one, providing added convenience and improved care for patients, and an important source of revenue for physicians; and 3) providing practice pharmacists with unique automated tools that improve tracking of oral drug prescriptions and fulfillment to promote higher levels of patient adherence to prescribed therapeutics.

In the United States, community oncologists provide care for the majority of cancer patients. Increasingly, changes in healthcare economics are impacting how these practices operate, putting pressure on their ability to deliver essential services to their patients. Oral drug acquisition and management can be particularly problematic as the drugs are expensive and often not fully reimbursed. The distribution agreement between Metro Medical Supply, Inc. and RainTree Oncology will help alleviate the cost burden that this places on practices and their patients.
