Premier Prostate Cancer Center the Latest Center to Achieve High Honor of ACR Accreditation
Date:4/18/2013

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J., April 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Premier Prostate Cancer Center, a partnership between AKSM/Oncology and the Urology Care Alliance (UCA), is the latest in a rapidly growing list of prostate-only treatment centers to earn the high honor of a three-year term of accreditation in radiation oncology.

The American College of Radiology (ACR) seal of accreditation represents the highest level of quality and patient safety, and is the result of a recent review by the ACR. It is awarded only to facilities meeting specific Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards developed by ACR after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified radiation oncologists and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

"Commitment to patients and delivering the highest quality of care has always been a top priority for Urology Care Alliance urologists," said UCA President Gary Karlin , MD. "This accreditation supports and demonstrates our commitment to quality and excellence in patient care." Dr. Karlin also noted this accreditation is not required and the Center voluntarily chose to undergo this vigorous review.

The ACR review and on-site survey assesses patient care and treatment, patient safety, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs. The Premier Prostate Cancer Center received an unqualified recommendation which means there were no deficiencies that needed improvement. "Dr. Arthur Harvey , the Center's Board-Certified Radiation Oncologist, and his staff are major reasons our ACR review was so flawless. His compassion, efforts and skills as a physician are greatly appreciated," said Karlin.

AKSM/Oncology both manages and staffs the Premier Prostate Cancer Center and is the market leader providing radiation therapy services in conjunction with urologists throughout
