Présentation du tout premier test pratique d'évaluation des compétences pour la certification d'endoscopie

oposant des scénarios réalistes de situations cliniques à l'aide d'outils personnalisés. Le GI Mentor fournit un environnement complet pour la pratique d'interventions cliniques de façon sécuritaire et réaliste.
Le test FES évalue les connaissances et le jugement cognitifs et utilise la plate-forme de réalité virtuelle GI Mentor afin d'évaluer les compétences techniques fondamentales. Le module pédagogique consiste en une présentation multimédia en ligne du contenu didactique. Ceux qui réussissent à la fois les composantes pédagogiques et les composantes de l'évaluation auront démontré qu'ils possèdent les connaissances basiques ainsi que les compétences techniques et de jugement essentielles à la pratique de la chirurgie endoscopique.
Après un long développement et la validation du module utilisant le GI Mentor de Simbionix, les examens FES de la SAGES seront officiellement opérationnels au printemps 2013. Les professionnels de la santé qui passent ce test seront évalués objectivement, avec des sites tests limités aux programmes généraux de résidence en chirurgie aux États-Unis et au Canada. Les établissements suivants comptent parmi les premiers sites faisant passer les tests : University Hospitals- Case Medical Center de Cleveland, dans l'Ohio, l'Hôpital méthodiste de Houston, au Texas et le McGill University Health Centre de Montréal, au Québec.
