Polymer Technology Systems, Inc. to Provide Point-of-Care Lipid Testing to Aegis Health Group's Hospital Clients

INDIANAPOLIS, June 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Polymer Technology Systems, Inc. (PTS) announced a partnership with Aegis Health Group to integrate the CardioChek® PA system into Aegis workforce wellness programs administered by health systems across the country. The CardioChek PA lipid testing system, manufactured by PTS and distributed through Hanson Medical Systems, offers immediate, on-site results for total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose.

The CardioChek PA test system will be available to health systems using Aegis' employer relationship management program, through which hospitals work with local employers to improve population health. Using CardioChek allows hospitals to instantaneously collect and record biometric data at health fairs and on site at employer locations. Screening results are transmitted in less than two minutes to Aegis' health management application, OneCommunity. As a result, both patients and healthcare providers have immediate feedback about a test used to identify critical health risks on the spot.

"The CardioChek PA analyzer is an excellent choice because it delivers quick, accurate results and provides a seamless interface that empowers patients with insight about important health parameters," said Pearson Talbert, president and CEO of Aegis Health Group. "Point-of-care lipid testing is the perfect complement to hospitals' workforce health partnerships with local employers because it allows clinicians to spend less time screening and more time consulting with patients, which increases efficiency for health systems and reduces costs for employers."

Without the CardioChek PA analyzer, when hospitals and wellness companies conduct on-site biometric screenings for employer groups, blood samples must be processed through a laboratory and results manually added to patients' health records which is a process that can take up to two weeks.  This new partnership between PTS and Aegis allows test results to be automatically added to a participant's health risk profile within OneCommunity, Aegis' population health portal, in a matter of minutes.

Hanson Medical Systems, a trusted partner of PTS with a broad distribution network, has been selected to distribute CardioChek PA systems to Aegis' client locations nationwide. "We are very excited to be working with two national leaders – Aegis Health Group and Hanson Medical Systems – on this important initiative," said Robert Huffstodt, President and CEO of PTS. "With Aegis' dedication to improving health and PTS's proficiency in providing fast, reliable test results, our partnership will help detect and address health risk factors for people throughout the U.S."
