OxThera stärker patentportfölj för särläkemedel - Primär hyperoxaluri

STOCKHOLM, June 4, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

OxThera AB har fått tre nya patent godkända i Japan under 2012 och 2013. Patenten säkerställer rättigheter till farmaceutiska kompositioner och metoder för behandling och förebyggande av oxalatrelaterade sjukdomar med mikroorganismer och enzymer och stärker ytterligare företagets patentportfölj för detta icke tillgodosedda kliniska behov.

"De japanska rättigheterna är ett viktigt tillskott till våra redan godkända patent i Europa och USA. Japan är en viktig marknad för hyperoxaluri" fortsätter Elisabeth Lindner .

OxThera innehar egna rättigheter till farmaceutiska preparationer och deras användning för behandling av hyperoxaluri i sju patentfamiljer med ett åttiotal inlämnade patentansökningar. De nya godkända japanska patenten har nummer 4996780, 5047190 and 5203217.

Oxabact® är en oral produkt och består av högt koncentrerade frystorkade levande bakterier (Oxalobacter formigenes) vilka administreras i kapslar. Läkemedlet är avsett att levereras till den nedre delen av tunntarmen där enterisk eliminering av kroppseget oxalat sker. OxThera genomför för närvarande en komplett klinisk utvecklingsplan för Oxabact® i Europa och USA avseende behandling av patienter med Primär hyperoxaluri.
