Odense Universitetshospital tilfører kræftpatienters stereotaktiske strålebehandling næsten tre gange hurtigere med Elektas Versa HD-system

ODENSE, Denmark, 24. juli 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Takket være Odense Universitetshospitals (OUH) nye Versa HD™-system fra Elekta var tilførslen af den tredje og sidste stereotaktiske strålebehandling for en 69-årig mandlig patient med lungekræft næsten tre gange så hurtig som hans første to sessioner, der blev tilført via OUHs eksisterende strålebehandlingssystem. Den tredje "fraktion" tog 2,5 minutter om at tilføre behandlingen i modsætning til de syv minutter, det tager med den eksisterende lineære accelerator.

Versa HD er et avanceret strålebehandlingssystem, der er udviklet til at forbedre håndteringen af kræftpleje og behandle et bredere spektrum af tumorer overalt i kroppen. Versa HD, markedets mest avancerede lineære accelerator, er et enkelt system, der kan tilføre traditionelle behandlinger af indikationer, som er almindelige på klinikken, mens det også muliggør behandling af komplekse kræftformer, der kræver exceptionel målrettet præcision.

Den 3. juni - datoen for den 69-årige patients tredje behandling - anvendte lægerne systemets Agility™ flerbladede kollimator med 160 blade og højdoseringstilstanden. Kombinationen højdoseringstilstanden med Agility™ betød, at patienten modtog sin stereotaktiske behandling på meget kortere tid.
