Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center Selects Allscripts to Automate Emergency Department and Connect Caregivers

CHICAGO and ANNISTON, Ala., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Allscripts (Nasdaq: MDRX) announced today that Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center (RMC) has selected the Allscripts Emergency Department Information System (EDIS) to automate emergency operations and improve access to clinical information.

Located halfway between Atlanta and Birmingham, Ala., RMC is a 336-bed hospital and the only Level II Trauma Center in Eastern Alabama. The hospital's Emergency Department (ED) employs 14 physicians and logs 50,000 annual patient visits. A JCAHO-accredited facility, RMC's position as a regional medical leader stems from its investment in advanced technology such as Allscripts.

The Allscripts system will integrate with existing hospital information systems to provide enhanced communication, better management of high-risk patients, and improved access to critical patient information both inside and outside the hospital.
