Date:10/5/2009

in a significant reduction in the cost to the company."

Although the rapid testing technology has been used in other states for many years, Florida is one of the most recent states to change the law to allow the use of these tests to qualify for discounts on workers' compensation insurance upon the implementation of a drug free workplace.

Educating employers in the implementation and proper use of these onsite devices is critical. The Council on Alcohol and Drugs will be providing a free seminar in the central Jacksonville area for HR and Safety and Personnel managers on November 6, 2009, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The primary speakers will be Chuck Wade, President and CEO of The Council on Alcohol and Drugs, and Bill Current, former Director of the Institute for a Drug-Free Workplace. Topics will include: an overview of the new law, steps for implementation, and demonstrations of onsite devices.

To register for the seminar, go to The Council's website at www.livedrugfree.org and click on the Jacksonville Seminar link.

If you would like more information about this topic, please call Leanne Mulherin at (404) 223-2482 or email her at lmulherin@livedrugfree.org.
