New Combination Locking Cap Designed to Protect Children and Teens From Prescription Medications

LINCOLN, Calif., Sept. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Safely storing prescription medications has always been a challenge for parents and other prescription holders. Now, an innovative new device allows prescription holders to safely secure and store dangerous medications—in a small, convenient and more portable container.

Developed by CAP-N-LOCK, LLC., The Locking Cap is a combination locking cap designed to work with existing prescription medication bottles. The Locking Cap was designed to help families prevent unauthorized and undetected use of prescription medications for non-medical purposes. With a four-digit combination locking mechanism and sturdy PVC construction, it is easy to use, but virtually impossible to get past without detection.

"The Locking Cap eliminates unauthorized access to dangerous prescription drugs," said Joseph Simpson, President and product designer for CAP-N-LOCK. "The Locking Cap is very easy to operate. It protects families by blocking access to curious children and experimental teens. Plus, it features a compact design that allows for easy access and storage when traveling and at home."

The Locking Cap is designed and manufactured in the United States and is currently available in national pharmacies and online at

CAP-N-LOCK specializes in family safety product design, development, manufacturing and marketing. The non-medical use and abuse of prescription drugs is a serious and growing public health problem in the U.S. and is rapidly becoming a global epidemic. The majority of people use prescription medications responsibly; however, an estimated 48 million people in the U.S. (ages 12 and older) have used prescription drugs for non-medical reasons. The Locking Cap was created to protect families and help prevent prescription drug abuse and overdoses. For more information about The Locking Cap, visit or call (408) 206-0120.
