New CoMotion(R) Trials Software by General Dynamics Enables Rapid, Interactive Sharing of Real-time Data for Clinical Trials

Software enables clinical-trial researchers, analysts and managers to visualize and collaborate across the room or around the world, in real-time

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Viz, a part of General Dynamics C4 Systems, introduces CoMotion(R) Trials, a collaborative, decision-support software tool that enables hundreds of researchers, analysts and managers to see, analyze, share and comment on data and information produced throughout the clinical trials process. The software, which runs on a commercial off-the-shelf computer, integrates data from many separate systems, portraying it in easily configurable charts and visualizations.

Required by the U.S. government, clinical trials comprise rigorous research, testing and analysis of the safety and effectiveness of new pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. A clinical trial can last several years and involve measurement and analysis of information from thousands of patients in hospitals, clinics or other medical facilities located worldwide. As more trials adopt computer-based systems to capture electronic data, the volume and complexity of information increases. As a result, software-based tools are needed to streamline the organization, interpretation and decision-making responsibilities that clinical trials teams must complete.

"With this software, clinical trials stakeholders don't have to stitch emails, wikis and sticky-notes together for the big-picture view of what's happening during a clinical trial," said Mike Capsambelis, product management director for General Dynamics Viz. "CoMotion Trials streamlines the flow of information during every phase of the clinical trials process, and that means significant cost and time savings for everyone involved."

CoMotion Trials is built on General Dynamics' CoMotion(R) software technology, currently used in the life sciences industry and by the U.S. government and military. For the military, CoMotion is part of an established battle management system that enables commanders and their staffs to collaboratively develop operational plans, then monitor plan rehearsal and execution from geographically dispersed headquarters.
