New Book by Entrepreneur and Managed Care Pharmacy Authority Details Her Path to Leadership
Date:6/3/2013

WAYZATA, Minn., June 3, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Numerous opportunities are being created everyday in this turbulent era of health reform. Entrepreneurs, healthcare professionals, and policy makers can play a tremendous role in how healthcare is financed and delivered in the next 10 years. Never has it been so important to develop the ability to lead the way to new visions of patient care and to improve healthcare effectiveness.

In her new book—An Unbalanced Success: Life. Leadership. Libretto.—one of the co-founders of the Academy for Managed Care Pharmacy offers lessons in leadership she learned and emphasizes the need to develop tomorrow's pharmacy leaders today. Norrie A. Thomas , PhD, has been at the evolutionary forefront of pharmacy benefits since its coming of age. She has extensive practical experience in mentoring, starting new ventures, and in the political minefields of small-, midsize-, and large corporations.

"Current leaders worry how the next generation of leaders will appear and from where. Leadership is a trait that everyone possesses," said Dr. Thomas. "Each person decides if, when, and how he or she will use it. Most people ignore this innate ability to be at the leading edge, to be a visionary, to become a beacon of guidance for others because of the fear of failure.

"You can gain confidence if you use failures as lessons. For that reason, you should be glad you've experienced a failure or two along the way. I wrote this book so that readers will ask the question, 'Why not me? If she can do it, so can I.'

An Unbalanced Success crosses genres: part memoir and part leadership master class, Dr. Thomas infuses her love of opera into a "Leadership Libretto," a recipe for how leaders interact with others.
