Date:1/11/2008

SKILLMAN, N.J., Jan. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), 10-20 percent of the world's population suffers from eczema, an inflamed skin condition characterized by red, scaly and itchy skin. To help manage the condition's symptoms, which tend to flare up in the winter months, AVEENO(R), the leader in ACTIVE NATURALS(R), has introduced the Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream and Body Wash, formulated with hydrating ingredients to help manage the daily symptoms of eczema and improve the skin's natural barrier function.

The AVEENO(R) Eczema Care products were developed with leading dermatologists and pediatric dermatologists to offer mild formulas suitable for both adults and babies, that are perfect for everyday use. AVEENO(R) Eczema Care products are specially formulated with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal and Pure Oat Essence to help lock moisture into the skin and soothe symptoms such as red, irritated and itchy skin. Additionally, the Moisturizing Cream includes a patented Triple Oat formula of key ingredients to help maintain the skin's barrier and provide moisturization for a full 24 hours. The products are also steroid free.

"We have conducted extensive research in order to develop this proprietary Triple Oat formula to manage eczema symptoms," says Judith Nebus, manager of clinical research for skin care at AVEENO(R). "Key ingredients in the patented formula, including Ceramides and Panthenol, moisturize and help protect the skin's barrier to help prevent the recurrence of redness, irritation and extra dry skin."

In a clinical study, 100% of subjects who used the AVEENO(R) Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream twice a day showed improvement in roughness in one week. In a separate clinical study, subjects who used the AVEENO(R) Eczema Care products showed significant improvements in itching and skin scaling after one week of use.
