SAN JOSE, Calif., June 23, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- BD Biosciences, a segment of BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) (NYSE: BDX), today announced the launch of the BD FACSJazz™ Cell Sorting System, a next-generation flow cytometer that simplifies cellular isolation and analysis for researchers requiring high sample integrity. Occupying 20" x 20" (51 cm x 51 cm) of benchtop space, the new sorter features high sensitivity to identify and isolate target cells for up to eight parameters.
"As a leader in cell analysis, BD's goal is to make advanced cell isolation and sorting accessible to all researchers, with all levels of experience," said Alberto Mas, Worldwide President, BD Biosciences. "The BD FACSJazz Cell Sorting System offers, for the first time, an extremely powerful tool for the identification and isolation of single or multiple cells even from complex or extremely rare cell populations right from the benchtop. With application across a number of applications, we believe that this product will complement the recent and very rapid advances in genomic studies where sample integrity is critical for next-generation sequencing and sequence detection."
The new BD FACSJazz Cell Sorting System will have broad utility for next-generation genomic studies. The system is capable of identifying, characterizing and isolating single or multiple cells and depositing them in 96 and 384 well plates with precision, accuracy and rapidity.
The BD FACSJazz Cell Sorting System incorporates customer input from a 2011 global early access program. As a result, refinements were made to enhance usability and ease of use. In addition, a violet laser and pulse processing were added to the offering to enhance live dead cell discrimination and cell cycle analysis.
