Betreuung von älteren Patienten mit Diabetes

Eine wirksame Versorgung von älteren Patienten mit Diabetes sollte sich auf Folgendes konzentrieren: Sicherheitsaspekte, Diabetes-Prävention, frühe Behandlung von Gefäßerkrankungen und funktionelle Diagnose vor und nach Amputation der Gliedmaßen, Augenleiden und Schlaganfällen. Zusätzlich sollten bei älteren Patienten die Prävention und die Behandlung von diabetesbedingten Komplikationen wie Gebrechlichkeit, kognitive Funktionsstörung, funktionelle Abhängigkeit und Depression im Vordergrund stehen.

Die EDWPOP-Richtlinien bieten Folgendes:  

Die EDWPOP Richtlinien liefern eine evidenzbasierte und detaillierte Zusammenfassung davon, was  im Gesundheitswesen Tätige in ganz Europa jetzt tun sollten, um älteren Menschen die bestmögliche Behandlung von Diabetes zu ermöglichen. Dazu gehört:

  • Eine evidenzbasierte Analyse von Behandlungsmethoden für ältere Diabetespatienten - und diese gilt als Ansatz für klinische Entscheidungen
  • Eine benutzerfreundliche Empfehlungsliste für stationäre und ambulante Behandlungsrahmen
  • Leitfaden für 18 Themengebiete mit klinischem Interesse, unter anderem: Tests und Diagnose, Prävention, sekundäre Komplikationen, Hypoglykämie, kognitive Störungen, Stürze und Immobilität
